Molecule Role Annotation Vaccination of mice and guinea pigs with a secA2 mutant significantly increased resistance to M. tuberculosis challenge compared with standard M. bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin vaccination (Hinchey et al., 2007). In another study, lysine auxotrophy combined with deletion of the SecA2 gene made a live attenuated vaccine for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. SCID mice was highly protected from challenge after the vaccination (Hinchey et al., 2011).
