Vaxperts Documentation

1. Search Vaccine Experts by Name:

Vaxperts searches authors based on last name, initials, and/or first name. For example search last name "Mobley" will return three records.

Click "more" next to an author name, the resulting web page will show all the papers published by the author, his research focuses categorized by major MeSH terms, and his coauthors as well as the coauthors’ coauthors.

A graphic image is generated automatically to display the selected author surrounded by all his coauthors through edges (or lines) . An edge can be mouse-clicked to bring up a page showing shared publications between the author and a co-author. A co-author can be mouse-clicked to bring up a web page with detailed information about the co-author.

The top 20 MeSH terms associated with all articles for a particular author are weighted, sorted, and displayed with horizontal bars. All MeSH terms have been normalized since MeSH terms are very diverse and some MeSH terms more specific and informative than others. The length of each horizontal bar indicates the weighted MeSH term frequency for a designated author. The bar for the most frequent term always has a fixed length. The rest of the bars have proportional lengths relative to the first bar.

Mesh

The numbers next to the MeSH terms can be mouse-clicked to open a new page showing the term aligned within the MeSH tree hierarchical structure, all articles associated with the term, and all the authors in these articles. A user can also click any of the horizontal bars to find the articles associated with the corresponding MeSH term and published by the designated author.

2. Search Vaccine Experts by MeSH:

In addition, MeSH terms can also be searched using a Boolean keyword search in the Vaxperts home page. The MeSH search function allows users to quickly identify authors and publications in specific areas.
